On this day in 1996. A gunman shot and killed 35 people in the town of Port Arthur, Tasmania.

On this day in 1956. Jimmy Barnes, a singer/songwriter and lead singer of Cold Chisel was born on the 28th of April 1956.

On this day in 2001. Millionaire Dennis Tito became the world’s first space tourist.
