  • On this day in 2006.  Two Tasmania miners were found alive after being trapped underground for 5 days at the Beaconsfield mine.
  • On this day in 1993.   Monica Seles is stabbed from behind in the back at the quarter final tennis match in Hamburg, Germany.
  • On this day in 1933.  The country singer, Willie Nelson turns 80 today.

    For the first time in Canadian history, a woman was chosen as Speaker of the House of Commons.April 30, 1903.
