- On this day in 1937. May 12th 1937 is the date King George VI, the father of Princess Elizabeth, now Queen Elizabeth II, was crowned. Princess Elizabeth became Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 25.
- On this day in 1971. Mick Jagger, known best as The Rolling Stones singer, marries Bianca Perez Morena de Macias. The ceremony was held in the local town hall in the French Mediterranean town of St Tropez.

The world’s first working programmable, fully automatic computer, Konrad Zuse’s, “Z3” debuts in Berlin, on this date in 1941. Thanks to the Nazi regime’s shortsightedness, the machine was not repaired after an allied bombing raid damaged it. The regime did not think the Z3 could be important to the war effort.
