Add Your Piece of History… 20th May

20 May
  • On this day in 2009.  Wayne Allwine, the voice of Mickey Mouse dies.  Wayne died at the age of 62 from complications from diabetes.  He became the voice of Mickey Mouse in 1977 and was married to the actress, Russi Taylore, who voiced Minnie Mouse.
  • On this day in 1959.  Ford wins the battle with Chrysler to call its new car ‘Falcon’.  Both Ford and the Chrysler Corporation, unknown to each other, chose the name ‘Falcon’ for their new small cars.  Ford reserved the name with the industry registry only 20 minutes ahead of Chrysler so won the right to name.

Please feel free to add your piece of history (something personal or just general history).

We had a 60 or 61 and Falcon was car I learned to drive. Great gas mileage but had the curse of door cancer and rear window rust like all the cars of the era.

Thank you so much for your comment! My Dad is a loyal Ford man, and we currently have a Holden so we never hear the end of it!

We would love to hear from you...
