- On this day in 1965. The Beatles song ” Ticket to Ride” single goes number 1. “Ticket to Ride” was the first Beatles recording to break the three-minute mark.
- On this day in 1570. The 1st atlas, with 70 maps, was published. Abraham Ortelius, a book collector and engraver published the Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (Theater of the World) – the world’s first atlas.
- On this day in 1906. The Wright Brothers patent an aeroplane. Orville and Wilbur Wright were granted U.S. Patent 821393 for a “Flying Machine”. With the granted patent, the Wright Brothers had control over their design, they could grant or deny permission to use their design and were entitled to a royalty.

Love love Ticket to Ride—big memories—I actually saw the Beatles in Atlanta in 1965–my grandfather took all of us grandkids–I was the youngest so I don’t remember too much–the Supremes opened for them–I do remember that 🙂
