  • On this day in  1886.  At least 153 die as Mt Tarawera in New Zealand erupts.  Mount Tarawera is a volcanic mountain situated 24 kilometres southeast of Rotorua in the North Island of New Zealand.
  • On this day in 1935.   Alcoholics Anonymous was formed.  In New York City, two recovering alcoholics,William G. Wilson and Dr. Robert Smith, found Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.), a 12-step rehabilitation program that eventually helps countless people cope with alcoholism.
  • On this day in 1752.  Benjamin Franklin flies a kite during a thunderstorm and collects a charge in a Leyden jar when the kite is struck by lightning.
  • On this day in 1921.   Prince Philip, celebrates his birthday today.  Duke of Edinburgh (born Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark) is the husband of Queen Elizabeth II.

    on this day in the year 2000 i began my beautiful journey into recovery from addiction, its been 13 yrs now amen
