  • On this day in 1946.   The Bikini swimsuit (a daring 2 piece swimming costume for ladies) was introduced by French designer Louis Reard at a popular swimming pool in Paris. Micheline Bernardini wore the two-piece outfit.
  • On this day in 1996.  Dolly the sheep, the first mammal to be successfully cloned from an adult cell, is born.  Dolly the sheep was created at the Roslin Institute in Scotland.
  • On this day in 1865.  William Booth founded the Salvation Army in London.
