  • On this day in 1566.  French astrologer, physician, and prophet Nostradamus died.
  • On this day in 1881.  President James Garfield was shot by Charles Guiteau, he died on September 19.  Garfield was shot twice from behind, once across the arm and once in the back.
  • On this day in 1937.  Amelia Earhart and her co-pilot Fred Noonan disappeared over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to fly around the world.  Approximately 5 weeks after she set off, her plane disappeared, last heard about 100 miles off Howland Island in the Pacific.

      Funny you say that Julie because when I was researching it they said he did mention to his secretary “You will not find me alive at sunrise.” The next morning he was reportedly found dead, lying on the floor next to his bed and a bench. I guess he was lucky enough to say his goodbyes.

        how crazy is that??!!—there must be something to the ol fellow…and I do love a mystery :)—there is another fellow with similar predictability powers—St Malachy—-seems he wrote predictions based on all of the popes (in 1140)—those past him, his current ,as well as those to come…the book is The Last Pope by John Hogue, baed on St Malachy’s predictions–supposedly we are right at the end…hummmmmmmm
