On this day in 1940. ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ and Shakespearean actor Patrick Stewart is born. Stewart is best known as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek”. He was born in Mirfield, Yourkshire, England.

On this day in 1930. The first World Cup soccer competition began in Montevideo, Uruguay.
