- On this day in 1952. TV actor and comedian Robin Williams is born. Robin McLaurin Williams was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Williams landed his first big break as “Mork”, an alien who guest-starred on “Happy Days” with Ron Howard and Henry Winkler. Shortly after that, he starred in his own spin off sitcom, “Mork and Mindy”. Williams has appeared in films such as “Mrs Doubtfire”, “Good Morning Vietnam”, “Dead Poets’ Society” and “Good Will Hunting”.
- On this day in 2007. The seventh and last book of the Harry Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” was released.
- On this day in 1904. Construction of the Trans-Siberian railway, connecting European Russia with the Pacific coast, is completed. The Trans-Siberian railway is over 7000 km long. The railroad was begun in 1891 and completed on 21 July 1904.
