  • On this day in 1800.  King George III survives a 2nd assassination attempt.  The King was attending a performance at the Drury Lane Theatre in London.  The King was in the Royal box, standing as the national anthem was being played.  James Hadfield rose and fired his pistol at King George III, missing him by a mere 14 inches.  The King ordered the performance to go ahead as planned.
  • On this day in 1928.  The 15th of May 1928 was the  day The Aerial Medical Service, later named the Flying Doctor Service, was established in Cloncurry, Queensland, Australia.
  • On this day in 2010.  16 year old Jessica Watson sails into Sydney, Australia, after becoming the youngest person to sail non-stop  and unassisted around the world.  Jessica departed Sydney on the 18th of October 2009.
